Project Soul Bot

Soul Bot

Remember when toys were actually fun? These days, they just seem... boring. The more I search for something exciting, the less excited I get. Sure, maybe I'm getting old to play with toys – but come on, I'm only 24! My inner child keeps craving something that looks simple yet holds complexity underneath.

I've always been fascinated by robots (I mean, who isn't?!). Take Wall-E from the movie "Wall-E" – the best robot character I've ever seen. There's something about that little guyβ€”he's simple, charming, and oddly fascinating. I mean, who wouldn't want to interact with a robot like that? This got me searching for similar robots, and I found some cool ones like Cozmo and Eilik.

I was seriously considering buying one until I saw the price tag. Look, it's not that I can't afford it – I graduated in 2023 (πŸŽ‰) and have a job now – but the functionality these robots offer is so basic compared to their price. Sure, they look pretty, but at that point, I might as well just hang their picture on my wall and stare at it.

But here's where it gets interesting. If you know me, you know I'm always up to something. And let's not forgetβ€”I have an engineering degree! So, why not put it to good use? Why not build my own robot? One that's not just cute but also intelligent, something I've dreamed of making ever since I started learning about Artificial Intelligence and how we can simulate human-like thinking. Back in college, I didn't have the time or resources to dive into something like this. But now? Now's the perfect time.

To keep things interesting, I have set a budget limit of less than 10,000 INR (~115$). Sure, it's going to be challenging, but isn't engineering all about optimizing with limited resources? Plus, it'll make the whole project way more fun! I will try to do the write-ups as much as I can.
